Series premieres 2012: 'Magic City'

The glitz and organized crime shape the new television series, Magic City, a time travel to Miami at the beginning of the Castro revolution in Cuba, which has in its distribution to the daughter of actor Andy Garcia, Dominik Garcia- Lorido.

The first season of Magic City will be released on April 6 and will consist of eight chapters, although the channel has already given the green light to a second season of ten episodes.

The plot unfolds at the luxurious Hotel Miramar Beach in Miami Beach, the center of newly built housing splendor confluence famous mobsters, millionaires and CIA agents, creating a potential for conflict cocktail

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) play the couple in front of the hotel and lead a series created by Mitch Glazer, author of the script, and according to Garcia-Lorido no political overtones although bear in mind the rise to power of Fidel Castro in Cuba.

"We have the facts," the actress told Efe who insisted that the history of Magic City is about organized crime in Miami and Glazer "has a great respect for the history of Cuba to show it with fidelity."

Garcia-Lorido plays the only Cuban in the series, Mercedes, a young friend of the children of the hotel owner who is studying to become an airline stewardess and works as a housekeeper at the facility.

His dreams of traveling and seeing the world will be altered to lose touch with his mother because of the revolution on the Caribbean island.

Personally, the actress said that beyond the artistic challenge posed Magic City, the project has a strong emotional component.

"Everything that happened (the Castro revolution) is still very much alive in my family, and to play a woman affected by all that now is something that is very close to my heart," said Garcia-Lorido.

Before recording the program went to see my grandmother and I sat with her for photos and talked about the jewelry recalled that his grandparents had settled in Miami due to the change of government in Cuba and even their parents were born in the island, but grew up between Miami Beach and Key Biscayne.

"Before recording the program went to see my grandmother and I sat with her for photos and talked about the jewelry that you wore," said the actress who rose to the first chapter set in the time that the president Fulgencio Batista leaves the island.

The president's flight occurs on New Years Eve 1958, while the wealthy Miami Beach Miramar guests receive the new year with clamor.

The historical component is also very present mood when the sets and costumes, in which the production team put much effort, he told Garcia-Lorido.

"They are very precise, are all adapted to the times," he said, explaining, for example, that underwear is employed and is not on screen is identical to that of the 50 and 60.

Magic City follows the same path so that the hit Mad Men, winner of four consecutive Emmys for best series and revived the interest in fashion from the same period in the U.S., but beyond aesthetics bear little resemblance.

There is more variety of characters in Mad Men, from businessmen to prostitutes, people in uniform. Here we have a tropical climate and are many bathing suits, "said Garcia-Lorido that had not received any special advice from his father to play a role, one that was" prepared ".

Despite the worldwide fame of Andy Garcia's daughter has managed to live discreetly appearing in independent productions, some of them with his father as The Lost City or City Island, which fears it could change from now.

"I never worked for something so big. They will be able to see on television and public exposure will be great. I'm not used to. The idea of being famous is not something I look real. Anyway, I grew up with someone which is well known, but when it comes to me I do not feel that way at all, "he said.
